Kinver Boat Yard — A Gem In the Landlocked Midlands

Kinver boat yard

When you visit Kinver, one thing you’d be surprised to see, I’m sure, is a boat yard. And, you won’t, because it doesn’t have one.

However, years ago, it seems that Kinver used to have a marina, in the area in front of the Vine Pub and the canopies company.

So could a Kinver Boat Yard come back one day?

It’s fair to say that Kinver has received a lot of investment over the past few years, mostly through the fundraising of a number of local groups and private companies who have seen fit to use the village as their base.

As it sits on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal, it’s an ideal place for many boat cruises, and therefore visitors from the north and south, all wanting to come and taste the food and drink of the area.

Visitors who arrive by boat can take advantage of the many moorings available, and then spend time in the many pubs and restaurants dotted around the village.

So, given there’s a surge in staycations and people wanting to take in the calming vistas of our canals, could a boat yard come back to Kinver in the future?

At the moment, there are no such plans. The Parish Council certainly don’t have it on their radar, so it’s unlikely public money would be used.

However, if an enterprising company were to see the value of tourism for the area, maybe, just maybe, something could happen in the future?
