Why I’m Smiling
Danielle Campoamor

I smile, because I hope

Beautiful piece. Although I’m not quite there yet — not quite in a place, where I can look back on my pain and call it past. At this point in my life I smile to shield what I really feel. I smile, because it’s easier. I smile, because people are tired of seeing my tears. I smile, because I don’t want to be a burden. I smile, because others need me to be strong — need my strength more than I need theirs. Most of all, I smile, because I hope.

I hope, that hardships will lead to happiness. I hope, that there is more to life than struggle. I hope, that one day when I smile, I will smile with my eyes too — and people will notice the difference.
