I whole-heartedly agree. You also get into a situation, as I am right now for my job hunting woes, where an intern is requested on job boards. However, this position and job description do not match up with either ‘unpaid’ or ‘internship’. They require a person with my skills to fill their void of operations, in terms of marketing or content writing — for free. Interns are NOT cheap labor, and highly skilled work supplied for free — or very cheaply — is antithetical to the working operations of any major endeavor. I hope that you will be hiring in the future because this article is promising, transparent, and suggests your company actually wants to start on the right foot. Content marketing, copywriting and the like, as you have said, should not be left in the hands of the inexperienced — especially if it costs more man-hours from other staff, being pulled from tertiary and more productive (most of the time) endeavors. Please keep me in your thoughts; there are a lot of us out here who agree with you, and wish more companies felt the way you do. Here’s to my job scraping up the New England coastline. And cheers to you for writing this.
