Water Crisis Awareness..

As a living organism we are dependent on natural resources gifted to us by God. And in these natural resources next to oxygen, water is the most important natural resource not only critical for human beings, but also for animals, insects, plants and for earth as a whole. We can’t imagine life without water.
Where there is water there is life, and where water is scarce, life has to struggle.

The scarcity of water for an agriculture based country like Pakistan it is more dangerous than terrorism. And it must be treated like a defense issue. Because agriculture is the backbone of country’s economy and agriculture sector is dependent on water. Thus the water scarcity can results in severe economic distress to our country and can also ruin greenery and bringing droughts putting people lives in danger. Recently the situation is that water is going down day by day and we are not taking stand against it. We are not even serious on saving water.

According to a recent report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pakistan ranks third in the world among countries facing acute water shortage. Reports by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) also warn the authorities that the South Asian country will reach absolute water scarcity by 2025.
A UNDP report says that Pakistani authorities are negligent about an impending water crisis that is posing a serious threat to the country’s stability. Our rivers and dams are also drying day by day.

So we think at this time when we are in severe danger of water scarcity, it’s our moral duty to spread awareness in our society. And we also want to motivate people to support and fund the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam and Mohmand Dam under the supervision of supreme court of Pakistan. For this we are planning to arrange seminars in some schools, in our respective universities, and where ever we can have access. We are also reaching friends, relatives and colleagues directly to get their support also. We are also hiring volunteers for our help who can promote our social cause and invite more and more people to attend our seminars also.

We are working as a team and putting our efforts on collecting information on how we can save water, what the dangerous effects water deficiency can have on people and country as a whole, and what we can do more regarding society awareness. After that we will arrange the information and one of us will make powerpoint slides or videos of it so that we can present these in our seminars. Two of us will promote our social cause on social media for that we have made a page on facebook and recently we are also trying to make a website. We are discussing our responsibilities on daily basis and trying to fulfill our tasks on time.

As we are students so the first challenge in our way is of time management as we can’t ignore our studies. We are trying hard to keep our study and social cause side by side. The other challenge that we have to resolve is of taking permission to collect fund, make arrangements for seminars and to invite and influence people. But we know that every mission demands struggle and we are ready for that. We are mentally ready to face hurdles and are enjoying resolving them. That’s really a life learning experience.
