So he’s been there since the dawn of the company. We’re here to explore the early days of this legendary wrestler and find out more on Undertaker Storyline and how he became the iconic figure we all love today!

Before becoming the Undertaker, Mark Calaway started his wrestling journey in 1984 as “Texas Red” in World Class Championship Wrestling. Texas Red because he hailed from Houston, Texas. After some time in different wrestling leagues, he won his first title, the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship, in 1989 as “The Master of Pain.”

His early years included stints in WCW as Mean Mark Callous, where he faced challenges like a feud with the Road Warriors. Texas Red, The Master of Pain and Mean Mark Callous all helped him develop the personality and nuances of his most known character the Undertaker. Despite a loss to Lex Luger in WCW, Calaway signed with WWF in October 1990, marking the beginning of his iconic career as the Undertaker.

WWE and The Undertaker

In the early 1990s, the Undertaker, initially introduced as “Cain the Undertaker,” debuted in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He quickly gained fame with his supernatural persona, characterized by imperviousness to pain and mysterious powers. His WrestleMania debut marked the beginning of his legendary undefeated streak.

From 1992 to 1995, Undertaker engaged in feuds with various opponents, including Jake “The Snake” Roberts and his associates. He won championships and faced challenges, all while solidifying his place as a top wrestler. These were his early grinding days, even when just starting out the wwf talent department knew that this guy was something different and this led him to becoming one of the top wrestlers from the time.

The “Lord of Darkness” era (1996–1999) saw Undertaker’s character evolve. He joined forces with the Ministry of Darkness and later merged with the Corporate Ministry. Despite winning championships, his association with the McMahons ended, leading to new storylines and rivalries.

The “American Badass/Big Evil” phase (2000–2003) saw Undertaker adopt a biker persona. He feuded with several opponents, including Kurt Angle, Diamond Dallas Page, and The Rock. In the attitude era the gimmick of a mysterious deadman walking wouldn’t have worked so the WWF decided to renew his character to something more relatable. Undertaker then formed the Brothers of Destruction with Kane, engaging in tag team matches and challenging for championships.

The return of the “Deadman” persona in 2004 marked Undertaker’s resurgence. He faced various opponents, including Randy Orton and John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL), and continued his iconic WrestleMania streak.

Undertaker’s journey from 2004 to 2006 included feuds with JBL, Randy Orton, and Mark Henry. His “Return of the Deadman” storyline culminated in a Casket match against Henry at WrestleMania 22, maintaining his undefeated streak.

The years 2006–2007 featured Undertaker’s battles with The Great Khali, Mr. Kennedy, and the reunion of the Brothers of Destruction leading to kane and undertaker story. Despite facing setbacks, Undertaker remained a dominant force in the WWE, leaving fans eagerly anticipating his future exploits.

Undertaker’s 2007–2010 World Heavyweight Championship journey saw him win the title at WrestleMania 23, face various rivals like Batista and Edge, and engage in dramatic storylines. He lost the title, won it back at WrestleMania XXIV, and continued a successful run, even defeating Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XXV in a “Streak vs. Career” match.

After a hiatus, Undertaker returned in 2010, reclaimed the World Heavyweight Championship, but suffered injuries. A storyline of him being in a “vegetative state” unfolded, leading to Kane’s betrayal. The brothers had intense matches, and the Kane Undertaker story ended with Kane ultimately retaining the title. Undertaker’s shoulder injury prompted plans for him to lose at Survivor Series and undergo surgery, with a return expected in early 2011.

After the 2011 Royal Rumble, The Undertaker returned on February 21, 2011, and Triple H confronted him. They agreed to a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania XXVII, where Undertaker won, extending his streak to 19–0. He returned in 2012, challenging Triple H to a rematch at WrestleMania XXVIII, which became a Hell in a Cell match with Shawn Michaels as the referee.

The Undertaker won, making his streak 20–0. He made sporadic appearances afterward, including helping Kane on the 1000th episode of Raw. At WrestleMania 29, he faced CM Punk and won, making it 21–0. Later, he confronted The Shield alongside Kane and Daniel Bryan. In 2014, Undertaker returned to accept Brock Lesnar’s challenge for WrestleMania XXX but lost the match, ending his legendary undefeated streak at 21–1. Undertaker suffered a concussion during the match and was hospitalized.

WWE Kane And Undertaker Story: Brothers of Destruction

Kane’s real name is Glenn Thomas Jacobs, and he was born in Spain in April 1967. He joined WWE in 1997, a few years after his half-brother, The Undertaker. In high school, just like The Undertaker, Kane played football and basketball. Both Mark and Glenn were similar in stature and had similar interests. He also attended Northeast Missouri State University.

When he started in WWE, Kane’s stage name was Dr. Isaac Yankem, but it later changed to ‘Diesel.’ Kane admired The Undertaker and wanted to follow his footsteps.

Kane Undertaker Story

In the wild world of WWE, the tale unfolds like a dramatic soap opera. Picture this: Kane, the wrestling powerhouse, is said to be the love child of Paul Bearer and The Undertaker’s mother, born from a secret affair. But hold on, it gets even juicier.

A disastrous fire, allegedly caused by The Undertaker, left Kane with both mental and physical scars. But wait, there’s more. Kane’s dad took it upon himself to transform him into a fighting machine, a personal soldier ready to unleash havoc on anyone who dared to cross his path.

Fast forward to 1996, the year of the ultimate family reunion. Kane, now a force to be reckoned with, comes face to face with his brother, The Undertaker. The reason? Revenge. The siblings embarked on a rollercoaster of brawls, and things reached a peak in 2010 during a Buried Alive match. Kane emerged victorious, burying The Undertaker and putting an end to their 25-year-long saga.

And that, my friends, marked the grand finale of one of WWE’s most epic rivalries and the best undertaker story.

Undertaker Vs Undertaker Story: Wacky Match

At SummerSlam ’94, there was a strange Undertaker vs. Undertaker thing. DiBaise’s Undertaker, with Paul Bearer and a mysterious casket, took on the real Undertaker. The fake Undertaker, played by Brian Lee, looked the same but had an obvious edited voice. In an eight-minute match, the real Undertaker won with two Tombstone Piledrivers. Then, the druids put the fake Undertaker in a casket and wheeled him away. It was a weird moment in WWE history.
