I let time take me

Through a whirlwind passage

It moved so quick

And yet the wound felt deep

I tried running

Out run it a bit

It got bigger

My mind a little weaker

I tried to leave it all behind

An easy option it seemed

But umbilical cords like

Gossamer threads held me near

Maybe if I shut it out

Lock myself up

Let no one see me or hear

But the din got louder too close to bear

So I stood still

Pelted with pain

Thrown to the highest strains

And gently placed

Right where I was supposed to be

So I stood still

For time will give

What it ought to give — pain and pleasure

In equal measure

So I stood still…
