I totally agree that “passing” can often come down to accepting yourself as passable when society at large does not. I get stares all the time, so I’m acutely aware of what the public sees. But you’re right, a smile and confidence go a long way toward selling it. I’m getting better at that with each passing day. Thank you for reminding me that passing is really a state of mind.

The reason I will forever be obvious to the world is that I have a height, weight, and build structure that would be very uncommon for a woman. It’s immutable, so I must make sure that my self perception isn’t.
