Genuine Learning is About Curiosity

Starting points:
* curiosity is what wise learning starts from
* the only one who is responsible for discovering and nourishing your curiosity is you
What came to my mind when I was contemplating learning was a well-designed process. I thought it was fairly enough to create something clear-cut and drop-dead gorgeous to ingrain a concept. I misunderstood learning.
Some days ago I read the article Stop Learning by Emil Wallnér which has shifted my mind. Here is my fresh sight.
Curiosity is what wise learning starts from. Nothing is perceived as a gem until you’ve become interested in it. Being an educator I can’t impose interests on others. It’s useless and disruptive. Curiosity is a matter of personal responsibility. My role is to help develop that iron will I’ve got lucky to be shared with. I should be somewhere behind but close enough to the learner to come in handy any time I’m looked to.
Curiosity is a vast land which is suitable for living of only one person. The person is you. There are fertile regions that are worth developing there. Neglecting them is going against your nature. There are also deserted areas in the land. Making them green and fruitful is possible yet extremely tough and time-sucking task. It’s up to you to decide which piece of land to cultivate but keep in mind the life is short.
It’s only you who is able to discover your land. For others it’s a terra nova which they will never have a chance to reach. There aren’t any signs, maps or guys knowing how to get to there. It sounds like magic but it’s true.
As soon as you take responsibility for your curiosity learning will stop being something frightening and tedious. It will turn into a background process so silent and seamless you won’t be aware of it.
Isn’t that right time to set out for the journey?
