Facebook reactions! :D

So from a UX side of things there are some improvements that should be made. I’m surprised it made it out of the gate as-is, but not a prob, we iterate, we thrive.

First! Slack nailed the shared reaction button.

Facebook needs to implement this.

With a little space between the icons I can join in with a previously shared reaction

When I hover over the reaction stats, it waits and does a load for each! Data for each reaction should come down at the start so there’s no wait time on exploring those points.

There’s also no count for shorter lists, and there’s no percentage! So every user has to do mega math to determine the relative anger expressed.

Ooohh I get the real story now

Lastly, regarding the REAL STORY, Facebook needs to give me those reaction stats at a glance, don’t make me work for it buddy!

FIRST organize the icons by what’s MOST

If this had more ANGRY than LIKE or LOVE, and more LIKE than LOVE

Then give me percentages about each. GitHub nailed this one; In this example it’s easy to understand what’s up with a simple glance.

My recommendation all together

At a glance you get the whole picture, and you can hop on board with any previously expressed reaction

As with all design, this should be revised/polished (the line should be skinnier), but this is a good example. NOTE! Clicking the color bar would roll those metric bars OVER the bar below and would show descriptive text.

Click the color bar HERE to see how GitHub #pro did it https://github.com/Giphy/Reddit-Enhancement-Suite (random repo btw)

I am a Strong Protan so I know all about color blindeness. The reactions would need to be boiled down to mutually eclusive colors, and potentially a single pixel margin between the levels would be nice. This WINS with color blind folk, because it is ASLO about the ORDR, not the color alone. Again, reenforcing what’s winning and what’s not.

If you know Facebook devs, help me trend this or send it to the right people. Let’s get this implemented! #goportland
