Last night at 8:30pm, while walking with a friend on 1st Ave at 54th Street in New York City, a guy grabbed my arm with one hand and tried to grab my butt with his other hand. I pulled away and yelled, “Don’t fucking touch me! Get the fuck away from me!”
Really made me question my own reaction and cognitive dissonance and helped me dig deeper into my blind acceptance of society’s hatred/disgust toward women and their bodies. Why is my first reaction disgust? When was I taught that? That’s the saddest effect of patriarchy, that girls are taught to hate themselves.
