Hey Satyajit,
I have researched quite drastly on this topic. Its a very much debatable topic. Although i would like to quote some points from nng:
One of the 10 heuristics of UI design says that users should be able to undo (and redo) their actions.
The finality of the action of selecting is not conveyed when none are selected by default.
In traditional application design, the first radio button in the list was always selected by default. But the unbridled world of website design challenged this practice…
