Thoughts on EU #1

I can’t understand why some socialists uncritically back EU demands in the UK brexit talks. The "divorce" is a split between two capitalist partners. We shouldn’t take sides with either. We should oppose all capitalist states, national or supranational, and rid ourselves of the latter while we can.

I for one don’t want EU institutions used against a UK left government as happened in Greece, or backing a rightwing government as is happening in Spain.

Of course, ruling classes will always back each other against workers , even when they have been fighting each other. But why promote the very institutions they will use to do that? Why make it easy - and perfectly legal - for a future left government to be neutralized by EU power?
