Meow! I mean… hi!

I’m Purrfessor K., part of the Kitty Kad team. Today I want to tell you about a project launching soon — the Kitty Kads NFTs and Game.

What are Kitty Kads?

Kitty Kads are cute NFTs that people can play with on the Kadena blockchain.

No one knows who they are, what they do, or where they come from… but we managed to snap a few photos from a recent sighting:

We’ve been observing Kitty Kads for a few moons now. We’ve captured the following notes about these mysterious creatures:

Unique — no two Kitty Kads have the same fur pattern and fashion style
Trade-able — those who have mastered the art of kitty-taming can buy / sell Kitty Kads
Breed-able — they can make baby Kitty Kads!
Able to hold items, e.g. like a favourite toy
Can play games (more on this later)
Kitties that appeared in the first sighting (i.e. the limited Gen0 batch) can be adopted by humans (but there have been no further appearances and we believe that any new Kitty Kads can only be bred into existence)

Oh, they also only exist on the Kadena blockchain, hence we’ve named them Kitty Kads.

When can you meet the kitties?

We’ve been working hard capturing and taming the Kitty Kads. They’re very eager to meet their new owners and over the coming weeks, we’ll be putting up the first kitties for adoption.

The stages will be:

January — Whitelist and giveaways for our Discord and Twitter followers, so make sure to join if you’re interested!
Early February — Kitties start being put up for adoption
March onwards — Gaming functionality starts being released

As everyone knows, herding cats is a challenge so the timelines may vary.

How does the game work?

The game primarily consists of adopting, breeding and trading kitties.
Some important details are:

Kitty Kads have different physical attributes and items, some being more rare than others
Gen0 kitties have special attributes unavailable to other generations and will make up the starting gene pool of all Kitty Kads
First 5,000 Gen0 kitties will be adopted for ~1 KDA. The funds raised will go towards keeping the Kitty Kad project going and to help launch future tokens and dapps
Second 5,000 Gen0 kitties will be adopted for Kitty Kad tokens (token details and price per kitty will be announced later)
Kitty Kads can breed multiple times with a cool-down period in between. The baby Kitty Kads will have the genes of their parents (with some mutations) and may inherit their parents items
Kitties can be put up for trading or breeding via a Kitty Kad marketplace for a 3% fee. The fee is just there to discourage artificial hiking of prices and will be used to further Kitty Kad developments or given away

What are the longer term plans?

Since they’re a new species, we’re still finding out about more and more things Kitty Kads like to do.
Based on my professional scientific observation, you can expect more ways to interact with your kitties in the future.

Also, Kitty Kads will be core to the Kitty Kad ecosystem of dapps. As new dapps are made, Kitty Kads will allow holders to participate more and get more rewards in DeFi and for games.
The Kitty Kads and the items they hold will help unlock extra in-app functionality.

More on this will be announced as part of the bigger Kitty Kad roadmap.

Why are we releasing Kitty Kads and how are they different to other projects?

Kitty Kad in general showed up to help bring more activity to the Kadena ecosystem.

Kitty Kads are intentionally being created as a game instead of a general NFT collection as there are plenty of those planning to launch on Kadena already.
The hope with Kitty Kads is that they can:

Provide an example of how to make games on Kadena
Test how well Kadena can support basic games
Create community engagement on Kadena by having an easy to play game with NFTs
Raise funds for future projects to help develop the Kitty Kad ecosystem
