My First Tattoo

July 8, 2017 will never be forgotten. I will remember this day forever. Yesterday was family day and my sisters and I all went up to Helen, Ga with our families to hangout and go water tubing. Last time we took a trip up to Helen, Ga was about 5yrs ago, and our parents went with us. Last weekend we celebrated my Brother in-laws birthday and we did lunch and hung out. We did the family thing as usual. When everyone was going home we decided that we should take a trip up to Helen, Ga since we haven’t been in a few years.
Well let me walk you through yesterday.
It was Saturday July 8, 2017. I just came home from work, which was about 1:30 am because I work nights. I took a seat on my sofa after putting everything down, then decided to walk upstairs to see if my husband was still awake, which he was and my daughter, which she was. I returned to the living room and sat down so I could use Anchor. This audio podcasting app I’ve been using over a year and a half. I went through my normal routine and put up my segments, then decided to get in the bed, simply because I was tired and we had to be at my sisters house by 9:30 a.m., Needless to say, I didn’t sleep well or get much sleep.
My husband and I get up shower and get dressed and then get my daughter ready. We get a text from my middle sister asking if we can be at her house by 9:20 a.m., my husband and I just look at each other and shake our heads, because when we all plan to do stuff as a family, Plans are always changing at the last minute. Needless to say we did not get there at 9:20, we arrived at 9:32. I didn’t realize that my older sister was coming, so we had to wait on her to meet us at my middle sisters house. Let me make this easier for you. I’m Kiyana the youngest sister, Ki-Juana is my middle sister and Kandice is my oldest sister. Well the meeting place was at Ki-Juana’s house the middle sister. We were now waiting on Kandice the oldest sister. We stood around waiting and talking and hoping she was on her way, which she was. We used the bathroom and hopped in the car. Within a couple of minutes my oldest sister comes flying down the road, she makes a U-turn and pulls up behind our truck and we all drive off. We stop to eat at Bojangles since no one had breakfast. While we were eating Ki-Juana mentioned to Kandice and I, that we all should get sister tattoos. Now when we we’re waiting for Kandice to get to Ki-Juana’s house, Ki-Juana had mentioned it to me then, as we were standing in the driveway, that we should get sister tattoos. I looked at her and laughed. Here we are eating breakfast and she mentions it to both Kandice and I about these tattoos. Obviously she had been thinking about it for some time, because she already had some ideas of what she wanted us to get. Kandice and I looked at one another and we were both thinking the same thing. We’d rather not scar our body for life, lol. Ki-Juana already had two options in mind for where we should have it done. It’s either the wrist or the ankle. The designs she picked were cool but looked like it would have to be a really big tattoo.

Kandice and I were on the fence. We finished up eating and got back on the road.
Driving up to Helen, Ga was about a hour and half ride. Once we were there, we found parking and then we changed into our swimsuits. We were going river tubing, which was a lot of fun, minus when I had to get out of my tube when my daughter and I got stuck on big ass rocks. That was an adventure. Once we made it to the end of the river it was time to use the rest room, and shower down. We headed back to the car to dry off, and change into some dry clothes so we could eat. We went to this little Mexican Restaurant to eat, and my Nachos we’re delish.
We sat around and talked for a awhile then paid the bill. We did some walking around, and then we seen the tattoo place, we checked out 5 years ago. Ki-Juana wanted a tattoo back then and was contemplating if she should get one, along with my mother. From the age of 18 to the age of maybe 20, I wanted to get a tatto. But it never happened and the urge went away. I don’t even think about getting tattoos anymore. I’m not one for pain and I HATE NEEDLES. Well here we are at the same tattoo place from five years ago, inquiring what will it cost for the designs my sister picked out and how long will it take.

Well the initial design would have to be pretty big because it involved a lot of detail. That was an automatic no for me. But our other choice was a little simpler and smaller.

We had the tattoo artist sketch out the design and print it out so we could decide. Kandice my oldest sister really wanted to back out. I on the other hand was unsure but made up my mind to go through with it. My husband also helped to convince me, and Ki-Juana gave me this look like, we are getting these tattoos no matter what. So let me just stop right here for a moment. About two weeks and two days ago Ki-Juana my middle sister had gotten her first tattoo on Venice Beach when we went on vacation. As well as my husband. Now she’s ready for another one. Okay back to the story. Kandice called her husband to see if he was okay with the idea, being that he had to work, so he was missing out on the family festivities. We all paid our money after filling out the forms and then Kandice asked if she could get a refund, if she backs out. The tattoo artist told us once he takes the money and puts it into the safe, he can’t give us a refund. Since Kandice decided last about getting the tattoo she had to go first, so she won’t back out.
Watching her, get hers done, she made it seem okay. Their was even another young lady getting a tattoo done and she didn’t even flinch, she made it seem like a piece of cake. When I got Into the chair it was a different story. I wanted to Snapchat my experience but that was pretty hard to do. I did Anchor my experience while my husband filmed the whole thing. I was a complete CRYBABY. I’m not ashamed to say that either. It was really intense, the pain was excruciating to me. I was crying and cussing up a storm. Tears and snot bubbles, it was bad. More painful than I thought it would be. I was really loud, the store owner said I may have frightened some customers away. It was so painful that I wanted to hit somebody and I started calling everyone fucking crazy who had tattoos, which meant my husband, sister, brother in-law, nephew and my tattoo artist. Feeling all this pain, I don’t know how people get more than one. You should have seen my tattoo artist, he had tattoos everywhere. Once it was over I still had this stinging and burning sensation, which felt like it lasted forever.
Ki-Juana had hers done and took it like a champ. I was the biggest baby of them all, but that’s okay cause I’m the youngest anyway, lol. Once it was all said and done, I found out getting a tattoo on your ankle is one of the most sensitive places to get it done. Now that was one of the questions we asked our tattoo artist. Is it painful to have it done by or on the ankle or the wrist. My husband says it didn’t matter, because it was our first tattoo. He was really proud of me but he also knew I was going to cry. My husband and everyone else asked if I would get another one and my answer to that is HELL NO.
I couldn’t and wouldn’t do it again. I wouldn’t recommend other people to get one either, but that’s just me. I still can’t believe I’ve scarred my body for life. What an experience and ordeal. OMG, Ive finally got a tattoo. That was truly a sister bonding experience. When we woke up that morning, getting a tattoo wasn’t part of the plan for me or Kandice. Ki-Juana however knew what was about to go down. I’m proud of myself for getting this done, cause I never thought this day would ever come, and I’m proud of myself for being brave enough to sit my ass in that chair and let some Licenced stranger dig into my flesh with his needle. At the end of the day you only LIVE ONCE and I LOVE my SISTERS.
