‘The action of officially allowing someone to do a particular thing; consent or authorization’.
Someone else other than yourself telling you that you can do something. Up until a certain point in our lives, this is how we know. This is how we know whether we are capable enough to do something, old enough, clever enough, tall enough or even whether it is socially acceptable or not. The ‘go-ahead’, the green light.
I’ve just given myself the green light to write this and it’s going to be the main theme for this ‘blog’ (if that’s what this is). Giving yourself the permission that you were once given as a child by an external figure, is probably, in my experience, the most important and most liberating thing we can do. That and remaining curious about the world. Permission & curiosity, in my opinion, form a perfect blend.
