Harrisonburg mom first confirmed Zika case
A mother of three has been diagnosed with the first known Zika case in Virginia. The initial symptom she experienced was a swollen lymph node located on the side of her head, followed by joint pain, a rash and body aches. She’s remaining cautious, but is able to maintain her symptoms at this time.
Slain 13-year-old texted college student before killing
Nicole Lovell, 13, texted and met up with David Eisenhauer and Natalie Keepers before Eisenhauer stabbed her. The victim had told friends that she was going out to see her “boyfriend”, 18-year-old Eisenhauer. Nicole had used social media as a way to escape the bullying she endured after a tracheotomy procedure left a scar on her neck.
Train collision leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
An Appalachian Power Co. work truck collided with a westbound train, traveling from Roanoke to Bluefield, West Virginia. The truck caught fire, killing the driver, William Lineberry, and seriously injuring the passenger, Johnny Collins. Collins has since been released from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
