While there are some kernels of truth to what you said, most of your post is extremely subjective…

This response is weirdly defensive relating to apple’s innovation. I will comment only on the audio aspect of apple’s supposed innovation. Do you use headphones on the move? Do you use audiophile class headphones?i do, i spent LITERALLY 4 months agonizing over the sound of the headphones. i read forum posts, i read tech reviews, i think i’ve developed a healthy appreciation of signals processing and the tech involved. Now apple says “forget all that, you don’t need a 3.5mm headphone jack coz we’re doing something innovative in the space so here’s a converter for your headphones”. Or atleast i’ve read from “leaks” on tech websites that they’re gonna be providing a converter, will be infuriating if they don’t

Don’t get me started on how much i hate converters and extenders and other fiddly things that i will inevitably forget or not have or will fail in a crucial moment. The new macbook doesn’t entice me for the same reasons regardless of how thin they’ve made it

So now my amazing RHA t20 that i spent months finding(and love using coz the “soundstage” is exactly how i enjoy listening to music) will inevitably be relegated to junk coz i’ll never have the converter when i need it or the converter might malfunction(since it has to have a chip in it) or any myriad number of things that will happen. This doesn’t make me want to buy the new iPhone - it makes me want to stay away from it

Will the audio industry standardise on wireless eventually? sure probably but i don’t think it’s apple’s job to be pushing it before the technology is commonplace and affordable. Especially if they aren’t offering revolutionary wireless headphones to go with their incremental iphone update

I apologize for the rant - i’m not a product designer or engineer so maybe i don’t know anything and apple really is innovative. As an end user who is a bit tech savvy though, the jack removal seems to be apple removing something from UX without adding anything hugely interesting in return.
