Military Appreciation Day Baseball Game
My story is going to be on the Military Appreciation Day Baseball game against Charleston Southern.
Two major Angles
1.) Honoring our Vets: There is no better way to honor the ones who dedicate their lives to defending our nation than with a game old fashion game of baseball. After all, it is America’s pastime.
Not only will it be exciting to watch the Liberty Flames dominate, it is for an important cause. There will be something more to take away from the game than crackerjacks and a foam finger at the end of the game.
2.) An Opportunity to Reach out: This game will be great opportunity to hear from Veterans. whether it’s their story or even if it’s just advice that they might have. Being able to hear from our nation’s heroes is a great opportunity for both the students and the veterans.
So what? What makes this a story worth reading?
A lot of college students like baseball games. It is a fun sport to watch and play. More importantly, college students like what matter. They want to hear from our veterans.
This story will also present a great opportunity to motivate Liberty students to work hard and dream big. If anyone understands the concept of hard work and motivation, it would be the men and women who have served our nation.
Finally, it is a great way to let veterans know that we care about them.
Here’s a List of What I know so far
1.) The game will be against Charleston Southern
2.) The game will be April 10, at 2 p.m.
3.) There will be special festivies in honor of U.S. Military Veterans
4.) Veteran’s with military I.D. will be admitted in for free, and will receive a $5 food voucher
5.) The first 1,000 fans wearing red will receive a free camo t-shirt
6.) There will be a color guard put on by the ROTC programs (which I will be participating in)
My Sources:
This game will provide me with a wealth of resources. I thought that I could interview a few veterans after the game. I could also interview a few students.
As a source, I could use the liberty sport page. Since I my focus will be more on the cause of the game, I could use a link that will direct readers to an article that focuses more on the game.
Hyperlinks:
There are a few things I can do with hyperlinks. I plan on adding a hyperlink to an article on the game so that readers can have a bigger picture of the event.
I was also thinking that, with permission from the interviewees, I could include hyperlinks to personal blogs or biographies. This will offer the change to raise awareness for the military.
Visuals:
I will be taking a lot of picture at the game. I can also get a few videos. Another option I have is to get a video, or soundbite of an interview.
To Do:
*Figure out how many vet’s are in attendance
*Interview a baseball player
*Include the other events that Liberty puts on for Military Affairs
