Strange familiarity of BKK

After seven months of staying in Siem Reap, I was able to take the opportunity to visit nearby Bangkok. I wasn’t expecting it to be a big city. To be honest, I had no prior expectations before going there. It was just planned that I’d go there with my parents. So when we got there, I was so happy that Bangkok looked like a metropolitan which is what it really is. Lol. As the car passed through the big buildings, I felt a sense of familiarity which I haven’t felt for a long time. Entering the city was like entering my comfort zone. I cannot explain the feeling. I come from a small city back in my country and I’ve never lived in a metro, however when I was there in BKK, something clicked and I felt home (again).

Google Map, in all fairness, was useful when we were there. Although I already had a map on hand, Google Map made it easier for me to navigate around the streets of Bangkok. And never once did I felt lost or even just felt the fear of getting lost in the city. Fearless you can say, but it’s true. I did not feel any fear or even pressure wandering around. And I was glad my parents trusted me with their lives when we were there. Lol. They seem to be confident of me while I was confident myself of not getting lost. That was the time when I knew I learned something from living away from home — that it’s okay to get lost. I was proud of myself and I should.
