girlhood

Girlhood is a knife.

Cutting and carving into your thighs when your skirt is too short, or a dagger stabbing into your chest when its unveiled. It leaves scars as you get howled at by strange men with eyes full of spite and sexual desire.

It slowly cuts off your dignity,

your pride,

and your joy.

Throughout the years you’ll learn that youre expected to talk less, as a woman isnt meant to be taken “seriously”. You’ll be expected to loose weight, and your body will not feel like it is yours anymore. You’ll be nothing but a spark above a burning fire.

You are a woman.

With a heart full of steel and eyes full of fury.

You are fire, and you burn.

A man cannot tell you who you are and neither who you will be or even can be.

You are invincible.
