What they are really saying is “stop in the middle of your fear and rage and sadness to tell me I am a good person.” Suddenly my pain becomes me having to take care of their feelings.

It feels ironic, were it not so sad, that many of them are the same people who complain about “being PC” because they can’t make racist jokes anymore, or talk about people needing to grow up instead of being “triggered” by depictions of violence and sexual assault. And hey, being gay in public infringes on their right to be Christian, but suggesting that they stop calling for violence is a violation of their First Amendment rights.

But despite agreeing with (or even actively making) these sort of dismissals (including of potentially vulnerable individuals), they’re still good people, right?
