What is an invisible arm lift?

Invisible arm lift surgery, also referred to as Brachioplasty, is a procedure to tighten and remove loose skin on the upper arms. This happens because of rapid weight fluctuations, the natural ageing process and genetics.

This procedure offers effective results and is ideal for individuals who have recently lost significant weight, have less elastic skin due to the natural ageing process, or have simply aged but have constantly maintained the ideal weight.

This invisible arm lift surgery changes the appearance of the flabby and sagging upper arms and provides them with a fuller and younger-looking look. This surgery also plays a crucial role in smoothening the underlying supportive tissue, making the arms appear younger.

However, it is not a substitute for weight loss. The main aim of invisible arm lift surgery is to remove loose and excess skin from the upper arms and thus improve how the upper arms look.

There are several factors that the plastic surgeon has to evaluate before indicating an invisible arm lift. These mainly include diet, age, obesity, smoking habits and living conditions.

Before starting the procedure, there are several factors that need to be considered.

First, the patient should discuss the complete medical history.

A careful and sensitive examination is also conducted. All the realistic expectations of the surgery are communicated well with the patient. Your surgeon may take photographs before and after the procedure to evaluate results better.

You may be asked to stop smoking or using tobacco in any other form, as smoking reduces the blood flow and prolongs the healing process. This leads to a delayed recovery after the surgery.

Further, the risks of postoperative complications are higher if the patient does not follow the surgeon’s instructions. Before the surgery, the patient is advised to stop taking certain medications such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and other herbal medicines. These potentially present the risk of bleeding complications and might result in some other life-threatening effects.

The traditional arm lift surgery is done under general aneesthesia. Excess skin is removed through large incisions, and the remaining skin is stitched back together.

This surgical procedure is quite lengthy, and the healing process is also slow, involving cutting the excess fatty tissue. The long arm scar takes a much longer time to heal, and with complete recovery, it may take almost 6 months. To speed up the recovery process, painkillers and physical therapy are also recommended by the surgeons.

Traditional arm lift surgeries are cheaper and offer monetary advantages, but in the long run, they are expensive when considered, along with the opportunity cost value perspective and alternative treatments. Such invasive arm lift procedures require up to six months of recovery and constant follow-ups.

Arm lifts are becoming an increasingly popular procedure due to the many benefits they offer. If you are unhappy with your arms, or simply want to improve their appearance, an arm lift may be right for you.
