The deep space exploration progresses slowly not because we don’t know how to push it forward but because solving other problems provides bigger incentives. Nobody went to the moon for a long time because there is nothing interesting there and it costs a fortune. Technically, we probably can live on Mars already but it’s simply not important enough.
The AI is a different story. Incentives for any increase in the computation power are enormous so we push it as hard as we can. That’s why it progresses faster than the space exploration.
