What a lovely piece. I think we rarely cry when the US wins because the US always wins, we win a ton of stuff — nothing against the extraordinary and hardworking US athletes, but it’s rarely an against the odds, shocking, heart-opening win (and when it is, like the US hockey gold in 1980, everyone cries). But Puerto Rico, your other home so rarely wins, and never gold till now. That’s worth some tears.
