  1. Diefenbunker- Canada’s Cold War Museum

This gem is an essential part of your Ottawa trip, about thirty minutes outside of the main stretch. It’s the preserved former Cold War Bunker for the capital, and this slice of history offers a unique view of what life might’ve been like living with those fears. Each room as you descend is rife with history, old uniforms, communication systems, and it’s deceptively large from the small shack you see from the outside. On this tour, you follow the guided path all the way down to the vault at the bottom where they sometimes even host movie nights!

2. Parliament Buildings

The Parliament buildings in Ottawa are magnificent, hands down a gorgeous architectural display. We happened to travel there in the summer when they were doing light shows at night against the buildings, but even in the day time, they’re absolutely worth the visit.

3. Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica
