AT&T Stadium full of Texans fans

Where Have All the Dallas Fans Gone? #RESM560v

When Tony Romo, the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys NFL football team, calls out the fans, or lack of, realization sets in that AT&T Stadium is not full of Cowboys fans any longer and everyone is noticing. It doesnt have to do with the fact that the Cowboys aren’t winning, they are 4–1 on the season.

This past weekend it was a sea of red at the AT&T stadium and this was not the first time this season. The first one being San Francisco 49er fans and this past weekend being Houston Texans fans. At least they have more of an excuse this weekend with the team also being from Texas, but the issue must stop here.

Strong words from Tony Romo may help influence Cowboy fans to attend their next home game.

“I was a little bit surprised by the number of Houston fans,” Romo said, via FoxSports.com. “Today we played on the road. We had to go to a silent count, and that was the first time I had to do that throughout the game at home.”
“We need to do a better job as a team, as a fan base, to make sure how big of a difference playing at home is,” Romo said. “I think going forward I’m going to press the issue. We just need to tighten up on selling our tickets.”

The underlying factor of why this has been occuring is not clear. This may be because of the accusation of Jerry Jones sexually assaulting a stripper in 2009 that is just recently being brought to court or another reason that the team is unaware of.

Cowboys fans have two weeks to start buying more tickets — or to stop selling tickets to opposing fans. The Cowboys will be on the road in Week 6, but after that, they’ll return to Dallas for three straight home games.

I believe that Tony Romo’s comments about how he feels might make former and current Cowboys fans realize that it is devastating their players. Despite the fact of Jerry Jones, Cowboys fans need support the team in attendence to home games and stop selling their tickets to opposing fans. I believe that offensive to the members of the team.

If Tony Romo presses the issue and somehow works to increase ticket sales, I believe the attendence for the Cowboys will improve. Having someone who is influential from in-house talk to fans might make the fans realize the damage they are doing to the image of the Dallas Cowboys.

Either way, the Cowboys have got to figure something out to stop letting their home stadium slip away to the opposing teams.
