A completely irrelevant image of the Camp Nou stadium that I visited earlier this year.

Review Guidelines, Disclaimers, and some random ramblings

So, it’s been quite a while since I’ve published anything in this blog. Life got in the way, as it usually does, but thankfully now we’re past all that and ready to roll.

That sounded less dramatic than I thought it would. Sigh.

Anyway, first up: The Review Guidelines. I’ll be publishing a number of reviews from now on, mostly IEMs (In-Ear Monitors, aka earphones), the occasional headphone reviews, and some other cool stuff that I may come across AliExpress or Amazon. While movie reviews won’t be as prominent as it used to be, they might appear every now and then, who knows.

Now, for the rating of a certain product, I will always use its price-tag as a deciding factor while giving out the ratings. Nobody should expect a $5 product to perform anywhere close to a $500, or even a $50 one. In case something does outperform their much pricier counterpart(s), well, that’s an exception and kudos to whoever managed to pull that particular rabbit out of the proverbial hat. Such products, however, appear once in a blue moon, if at all, so I shall stick with the usual “rating based on its price category” mantra.

I do not use any affiliate links (the links provided will only be given to provide the readers with a reference point), nor do I publish a review only because certain manufacturer sent me a free sample or promised me a free sample given a glowing review. Integrity of a reviewer is primal, so I hope and pray that the day never comes when I have to compromise my ethics.

Moreover, I will only post a review after I have used the product for at least a couple of weeks, and ideally a month. Some issues/eccentricities only appear after using a product for a while, so I’d rather get all the grounds covered than rush a review which I might need to revise later on.

Finally, comments and criticisms are most welcome, and I love a good discussion. Comment away, ask questions, and I shall try my best to give feedback. I might be a bit late to respond but I shall respond nonetheless.

These are still uncharted territories for me, as I know very little about product reviewing, ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶I̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶ ̶o̶w̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶h̶a̶l̶f̶-̶d̶e̶c̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶c̶a̶m̶e̶r̶a̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶s̶e̶ ̶p̶r̶e̶t̶t̶y̶-̶l̶o̶o̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶b̶o̶k̶e̶h̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶t̶s̶ ̶(̶y̶e̶t̶)̶. (update: no more amateur photographs, now I shoot with a Canon EOS M100 paired with a Tamron SP 45mm f/1.8 and Canon EF-M 22mm f/2).

Let’s see how it all goes, for better or for worse.

See ya on the other side.
