Origin of Selfishness

I have come to realize that selfishness is unintentional about 90% of the time. That is why I get defensive every time someone says “you hurt my feelings”. It’s because I have no idea what they are talking about. It isn’t deliberate. It’s based purely on obliviousness to another person’s wants and desires.

But then there is conscious selfishness, where I understand the challenges a person may face but choose to ignore them and instead focus on how they are inconveniencing me.
