My journey as a student-athlete here at George Fox University began officially five days ago. I am living out a dream I chased for so many years. My days now consist of rolling out of bed at 5:20 am for workouts, rushing to my 8 am classes still drenched in sweat, squeezing in meals between classes, and managing to take the time to practice my craft at the softball field…and it is wonderful.

For those of us who are gifted with burning passions, a desire to thrive on the field or court, this is a fire to be fueled. Fan the flames. There is so much reward in store, despite all of the negative voices coming from others and within. Do not let doubt dim your flame. Of course many things are easier said than done, but I am writing to encourage my fellow athletes to push through the rough days. This blog will be full of motivation, stories of my personal failures, my past and ongoing experiences that will provide encouragement, and even those laughable moments I am sure you will relate to(i.e. walking up stairs after leg day).

Athletes of all ages, I hear your struggles, but have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Continue choosing this life. It will provide the fulfillment that completes you.
