Roy Spinks is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of public accounting experience, primarily in the areas of federal income tax planning, compliance and business consulting.

Roy was born and raised in Joaquin, Texas and came to Waco to attend Baylor University, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. Roy has extensive knowledge in the real estate, construction and manufacturing industries, as well as professional service entities.

Prior to joining Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP, Roy was employed with Price Waterhouse, L.L.P. in Houston and a local firm in Waco. He was selected as the Central Texas Outstanding Certified Public Accountant and served on the AICPA Standard Setting Panel for the revised Uniform C.P.A. examination. Roy is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves on the board of the Center for Learning and Development, as treasurer, and is on the board of the Association for Good Government, serving as president in 2013/2014. In the past, he has also served as board president of the Heart of Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross, board member of the Waco Center for Youth and has also served as a “Big Brother”with Big Brothers-Big Sisters.

He and his wife, Shelly, reside in Waco with their daughter, Caroline, and son, Wyatt. In his spare time, Roy is an avid Baylor fan who loves to tailgate at all the home Baylor football games and also enjoys a good round of golf. You can also catch him at almost any Baylor athletic event.

Glenn Koslovsky is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Glenn received his Bachelor of Business Administration Management degree in 1980 from Texas A&M University.

Glenn began his career in industry where he worked in production and cost accounting for Cameron Iron Works, Halliburton and Hercules. He began practicing public accounting in 1992 with a local accounting firm in Waco. In 2000, he joined Whitaker & Associates and became a founding partner of Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP in 2006.

Glenn’s experience includes individual, estate and business tax planning, audit and small business consulting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Chartered Global Management Accountants, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Central Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Glenn serves on the advisory committee for Providence Hospital. He serves on the Chamber Partners committee and Leadership Waco Curriculum committee of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce.

Philip Powell received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Baylor University in 1976, with a minor in computer science. Philip was granted the Certified Public Accountant license in 1980, and has been a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor since 2005. His areas of practice have included company formations, personal and business taxation, QuickBooks assistance, Health and Human Services Commission Cost Reports (CBA & PHC), and oil and gas accounting.

Philip began his accounting career in Houston working for a group of independent exploration and operating oil and gas ventures. In the mid 1980s, he purchased a local tax and accounting practice in the Katy, Texas area and began his career in public accounting. In 1991, a position as controller of a Waco-based insurance marketing firm brought him back to Waco. When the company was later sold, Philip began working in the area of public accounting once more. He joined Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP in 2012. He is active in the Hewitt Lions club.

Lucinda Hess graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. Since January 2006, she has provided Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky with experience in small business accounting, tax preparation, auditing and various accounting software programs, including Quickbooks and MAS90.

Before joining the WSK team, Hess spent several years obtaining accounting experience in both private business and public accounting. She is a member of the Waco Symphony Council, serving as fundraising treasurer, and the Tarleton State Texans Alumni Association. Lucinda is also in the process of obtaining her CPA certification.

She resides in Woodway with her husband, Timothy, who is employed as an electronics engineer at L-3 Communications in Waco. They have two sons, Collin and Paxton. 3x4x5x slots free for fun. Lucinda and her husband enjoy attending local theatre productions and special events, spending time with family, and being active members of Parkview Baptist Church.

Donna Black graduated from Baylor University in 1994, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Prior to joining Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky she worked 16 years in the banking and financial services industry.

Donna is an active volunteer with Mountainview Elementary PTA, Tennyson Middle School PTA, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and National Charity League of Waco. She and her husband, Jay, have three children, Allison, Katie and Tyler. The family is active in many youth sporting activities including soccer, baseball and basketball. The Blacks are members of First Presbyterian Church of Waco.

Lynn Carter received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Southern Methodist University. Prior to joining Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP, she was the accountant for a local independent insurance agency.

Lynn has been involved with the Junior League of Waco, Waco Cotton Palace, Historic Waco Foundation and Vanguard College Preparatory School. She and her husband, Gary, reside in Waco.

Melinda Hedrick is a licensed attorney and certified public accountant. She grew up in Carthage, Texas, and came to Waco to attend Baylor University. Casio xj a247 projector. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Baylor University, and her Juries Doctorate from Baylor University School of Law. Her areas of concentration include estate planning and probate, as well as tax and business organizations. She is currently a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Waco-McLennan County Bar Association and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Melinda has served as a director and as president of the Waco McLennan County Young Lawyers Association and the Heart of Texas Estate Planning Council. She also served on the boards of the Community Race Relations Coalition, the Family Counseling and Children’s Services of Waco and the Waco Juniors Volleyball Club.

Melinda and her husband, Brent, have two daughters, Tinsley and Ella, who both attend the Waco Montessori School. She currently serves as president of their Board of Trustees.

Lisa Abel graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1982, from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. She began her public accounting career with a regional firm based in Waco, followed by several years with Whitaker & Company. Lisa has been with Whitaker, Spinks, & Koslovsky, LLP on a part-time basis since its inception. She is a Certified Public Accountant and primarily practices in the areas of federal and state income taxation.

Lisa and her husband, Mike, have two children, Scott (1984–2011) and Allison, and a precious granddaughter, Presley. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys cooking, reading, gardening, volunteering at Trinity Lutheran Church, watching Baylor athletics, visiting Walt Disney World, and spending time with her family.

Kristina Carpenter is from Lubbock and received her undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University before moving to Waco, Texas in May 2006. Prior to joining Whitaker, Spinks, Koslovsky, LLP Kristina owned and operated her own private practice for five years and has more than 15 years of accounting experience. She brings vast knowledge of small business accounting, individual taxation and experience with accounting software such as Quickbooks, Peachtree, Lacerte and Pro Series.

Her husband, Rick, is the Recording Studio Manager for the Baylor School of Music. She has three children, Benjamin, Alyssa and Holly. Kristina enjoys singing, Bible studies and spending time with her family and friends.

Born and raised in Waco, Judy attended University High School and graduated in 2001. She later attended Texas State Technical College where she earned her associates degree in Computer Networking and Administration.

Judy is the firm’s receptionist and administrative assistant, a position she has held with Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP since 2011.

Judy resides in China Spring with her husband, Rolando, and their two children. She enjoys going to the gym, shopping, baking and spending time with her family.

Hal Whitaker is the retired partner of Whitaker, Spinks & Koslovsky, LLP and currently serves as the president of Englander dZignPak. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1980, from Baylor University. He is a member of the TSCPA and the AICPA. Hal has also served on the TSCPA Tax Institute Steering Committee, Construction Industry Conference, TSCPA CPE Expo Steering Committee and the TSCPA Tax Curriculum Committee. He has served as chairman of the Central Texas Chapter of CPA’s.

Hal believes in giving back to his community, and has donated his time by serving as chairman on the boards of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, the American Cancer Society, Leadership Waco and the Waco Foundation. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce.

Hal has lived in Central Texas all his life, having graduated high school from Hillsboro ISD in 1976. He and his wife Jana, live in Waco. If he ever has any spare time, he enjoys a good game of golf.
