UFC 215 Features Two Title Fights in One Night
This event has been scheduled for several months and Demetrious Johnson is unhappy that is hasn’t been promoted well due to the Mayweather-McGregor fight a few weeks ago. It’s always something with the UFC isn’t it?
Amanda Nunes, who is fighting a title fight at this venues too, is sure the officials are punishing her for backing out of her title fight in July due to illness just hours before it was scheduled to begin. But here they are and let’s take a look at UFC 215.
UFC Johnson vs Borg
This fight will take place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada on September 9, 2017. It is available for viewing on Pay-per-View TV. Demetrious Johnson has won 42% of his fights in a decision and has won 12 consecutive fights.
His current record is 26–2–1 and is averaging 3.49 strikes per minute and has a 54% accuracy rate. His last loss came in 2011 and is fighting for the third time since December. Johnson is a solid fighter and really controls the octagon.
Ray Borg comes into this fight with less experience and a 11–2 record. He has won 55% of his fights by submission and has won five of his previous six fights. He is a bit slower with his strikes as he averages 1.51 per minute and is accurate 48% of the time.
This is his third fight since September and now gets a title match for it. Borg is a good grappler and known as a pesky opponent. He has five takedowns in his last three fights. He is not a strong striker and prefers to clinch it out on the canvas rather than standing up.
Borg is like a gnat and can make Johnson have some fits. He is a very solid fighter but the tools to the championship belong to Johnson and he will use his experience to make it to his advantage in this fight. Johnson wins this fight and is -900 odds to do so.
Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko Title Fight
Nunes is ready to defend her UFC women’s bantamweight against Shevchenko as another title fight on the UFC 215 card for Saturday.
Back in July, Nunes pulled out of the UFC 213 with an illness and many have stated she was afraid to fight Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko. This fight is to prove the pundits wrong.
Nunes is the stronger more powerful fighter and any punch that lands can be dangerous but Shevchenko can keep it on the round and the longer the fight goes the more gassed Nunes seems to get.
Look for this to end with the challenger getting a TKO in Round 2. The odds from Bovada has her at -120 to win.
