One of the things we brought from Facebook to Framer is structured, quarterly feedback and yearly compensation updates for everyone in the company.

We started with just a few questions that were supposed to help you give pointers to judge your own performance. Recently, I have been thinking on how to extend these for continuous feedback.

The result is a simple list of questions that can help you to self review your happiness and performance. They should be helpful at companies of every size and at every level.

Weekly (self check in)

  • Are you unblocked?
  • Are your objectives and responsibilities clear?
  • Do you know who to go to for answers?

Bi–Weekly (optional manager check in)

  • Have you had a new idea?
  • Have you helped someone else lately?
  • Have you materially changed something?
  • Have you looked at and acted on some data?

Monthly (manager check in)

  • Do you feel productive, happy and healthy?
  • Have you successfully pitched an idea or strategy?
  • Have you used the product, talked to users, ran a training?
  • Are you aware of the current base company kpi’s ?
    (traffic, sign-ups, sales, retention, etc.)

Quarterly (official review)

  • Have you shipped something that people use and you are proud of?
  • Have you asked your peers for advice and perception?
  • Are you aligned with the company goals and vision?
  • Have you helped find, refer and hire someone?

Yearly (official review)

  • Do you feel valued, empowered and proud of your work?
  • Are you doing the best work of your career?
  • Are you on the right career growth track?
  • Do you feel fairly rewarded?
