Most trackpoint implementations actually have the opposite problem: they’re not sensitive enough for modern systems; the sensitivity might be adjusted in software, but it often results in a weird “floating” feel. It doesn’t help that cheap replacement caps often get hard quickly, which leads to a loss of precision and increase in tendon strain.

So yeah, a trackpoint is hard to get right, but for entirely different reasons.
