“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

~ Robert Swan

Eco is an abbreviation for 'Ecology’. In common parlance, eco-friendly implies every initiative, motive, practice, a product, that are environmentally safe and do no harm to Nature.

1. Faucet/Tap Aerator: These are small attachments that fit onto the tap which regulates water flow to avoid splashes. These water-saving devices will control the amount of water that flows through the tap without affecting the water pressure as they mix the water with air. The aerator acts as a sieve, separating a single flow of water into many tiny streams which introduces the air into the water flow. As the water pressure is maintained, most people don’t notice a difference in the amount of water coming out of an aerated faucet yet benefit from the water efficiency.

Tap Aerators can help you save as much as up to half your water usage.

2. Sustainable Fabrics: Natural fabrics like organic cotton, linen, wool, pashmina, silk, and Tencel (made from sustainable wood pulp) are more environmentally-safe than man-made fabrics like Polyester & Nylon which require 100 years to biodegrade. Moreover, organic fabrics are breathable, hypoallergenic, and good insulators that keep your skin healthy.

3. LED Bulbs: LED lamps are significantly more energy-efficient & have a longer lifespan in comparison to incandescent and compact fluorescent lights. These are free of toxic elements like Mercury & have no UV emission. LED lights consume less power per unit which reduces greenhouse emissions from powerplants.

4. Copper Water Bottles: When everyone needs an alternative for a plastic bottle, copper bottles are the best. Copper is an essential nutrient for the body. Drinking water stored in copper vessels maintains good health, boosts immune function, and contributes to iron absorption in your body. On the whole, a copper bottle is indeed the best option if you’re looking to make the switch to a reusable water bottle.

5. Glassware: Looking classy & reflecting luxury isn’t what glassware is all about. It is environmentally-safe too! Glass is a sustainable material. When it breaks down, it’s safe & stable and releases no toxins. It is a fully recyclable material that contributes to mitigating climate change & saving precious natural resources.

6. Wooden Cutlery: It is compostable and completely biodegradable without any damage to the environment. Now you may wonder, how using things made from wood which requires cutting of trees be eco-friendly? Well, many of them are made from leftover trees from the lumber industry or from rapid-growing species like Bamboo & Birch. This cuts down on the environmental impact of disposable cutlery.

7. Soap Bars: It is as simple as it can get. For reducing plastic waste switch to soap bars. Body washes come in plastic bottles which adversely affects ecology.

8. Reusable cotton rounds & Razors: Cloth rounds (which are washable) on disposable cotton rounds for removing make-up is an efficient way to reduce waste and save natural resources. Reusable razors have a longer lifespan and you don’t need to invest in a razor again, you can simply buy only blades & this way it saves money too over disposable ones.

These are the 8 unique ways to go Eco-friendly. These are effortless and budget-friendly too. Contribute your part. Join the change.
