The Prayer of Asa

Asa was the third king of the nation of Judah. He succeeded King Abijah his father. His reign was for forty-one years and it spanned the reigns of seven kings of Israel. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord, he initiated and executed Godly reforms in the Land. Judah enjoyed peace for ten years until the Ethiopians invaded their land. The king was faced with a dilemma; his army was inferior to that of the Ethiopians. They had only 580,000 men and were to battle 1,000,000 men who had 300 chariots and other sophisticated weapons of warfare.

My friend, you may be in that kind of situation presently. It seems as if all hope is lost. Victory looks almost impossible. The challenges staring at you are so overwhelming that you have resorted to fate or does it feel as if those who are against you are more than the ones for you. The mountains before you are so huge that you don’t have a clue of what to do to surmount it.

I have a good news for you today.

When King Asa came to the realization of his state of helplessness, he rekindled his faith in the God of his fathers. He prayed this prayer in 2 Chronicles 14:11–12 and God came to his rescue.

11 And Asa cried to the Lord his God, “O Lord, there is none like you to help, between the mighty and the weak. Help us, O Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. O Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.” 12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

I want you to know that;

1. The size of your problem does not intimidate God. Even though you are powerless, he is the most powerful. No one can help you except God and if he doesn’t help you, no one can. He is the help of the helpless and he promised not to leave you or forsake you. He will help you in that situation you have found yourself, just continue to trust him.

2. He wants to see the level of trust you have for him. your expectation is the proof of your faith. God wants to see your faith in action. Remember that it is your faith that pleases and moves him to act on your behalf. Let go of every man-made support today and Let God.

3. The Lord is with you while you are with him. As long you remain his devoted child, he will not allow evil to prevail over you. He will always lead you to triumph in Christ Jesus. Victory for you is also a victory to God.

Your victory is at hand, keep your faith alive and active. Remain blessed and have a fruitful weekend
