Brandon Ewing is a well-known Twitch streamer who goes by the online name Atrioc. In January of 2023, at the lowest point of his otherwise positive online career, during his live stream fans noticed a tab in his browser, featuring deep fake porn of popular female creators.

Deepfakes are pieces of media created by advanced AI technology that can emulate a person to a tee. The more media of a person that exists out there, — such as videos or recordings — the more accurate the deepfake. For this reason, celebrities and streamers are an obvious target.

There is a serious problem with people incapable of empathizing with celebrities and online personas so to understand how disturbing this technology is, imagine a creep stalking and filming you or a person you love, only to then create porn out of the footage that looks 100% real and upload it online.

Disturbing is an understatement. It feels like a Black Mirror episode.

In Atrioc’s case, he paid for access to the site and knew the people involved. Not only that but as a result of the scandal that ensued deep fake porn sites were catapulted into the spotlight with searches for the term skyrocketing as a result of the whole…
