It also took me a long time to finally read it, which led me to write about it recently.

The fact that this was the only novel, coming from a great poet, put me off. I’m so glad I did read it eventually and hope she had written more. I also think it is so much more than a feminist story per se — mainly a struggle for survival in a world of social pressures. And what a timely and universal theme that is!
