The road to understanding Parmenides
Bad day. Well, not really, it’s just that it’s one of those days when you feel like punching someone square in the face. I had a few good laughs, couple of interactions and have actually became thankful to people who are nice enough to ask me how i am — which in turn turned out to be sort of a lifeline especially in the past couple of days. Monday was hell and i was happy i get to thank a friend for keeping me company in skype because i honestly don’t know how will i survive the day if she hadn’t put up with my random thoughts.
Anyway today, the edition ended and i promised to distract myself after hitting my target by reading either sartre or camus (or try to, cos pfft who am i kidding, i 80% i don’t understand a thing they’re saying). By morning i also did brain exercise because my editor is has probably killed most of my brain cells because of the rejections in the past few days and all the ELA submitted updates that i’ve been doing (nakakabobo yun, pero convenient kasi) so I tried memorizing nunigayo — it’s in korean rap song and i just want to pat myself from trying and failing, but what’s important is i tried LOL. Ugh i keep veering away from the topic but maybe this is what my prof said, Zuihitsu (or maybe just blog vomit). By afternoon I searched for books to read online but apparently there aren’t any sartre books available in open archive and gutenberg T_T. I found his novels but i need torrent to get the one i like but IT does not allow those kinds of things in my desktop. In the end i ended up with Stace’s “A Critical History of Greek Philosophy” and boy, the book gave me major feels for Parmenides, (only to be drawn back to Heraclitus). Since the book is about greek philosophy and it’s beginnings i was taken back to first day of Philo101 class when our professor, went on the first day discussing the miletian philosophers without even introducing himself and i realized it’s been 7 years since i entered university. After getting past the miletians zoningout on Pythagoras, the book enlightened me that Parmenides is Elean (i thought he was miletian, sorry) and his take about the ultimate principle of the universe (thales being water, anaximander — formless, featureless matter, Anaximenes — air, Pythagoras — numbers).
I made a diagram cos there is no way i am discussing it. (a/n i copied the text on the book, much easier to make this diagram)

LOL i had fun reading about him. I didn’t know the talk about Being started around his time (cos honestly i thought it would be a thousand years after). I don’t know how to end this, i need to get back to reading, i guess and i’m looking forward to understanding other greek thinkers, just like i did with this old man.
