The burden, the traveler, the way
Liberation, in the ordinary sense, is not what happens in practice when a person goes in search of greater space for his worldview. Liberation means to get rid of a closed, restricted, uncomfortable environment, and to penetrate into another environment, much wider, as broad as the universe. But to free oneself does not mean to be entirely free. We can never get rid of everything.
However, we can see this walk as the course of water coming out of a bowl to reach the ocean. To begin with, I’m going to explain what happens in true deliverance, the one that takes us to the most comprehensive and elevated point.
When we are born, our way of being is compared to a “LOAD”, a suitcase that a person carries in their hands. This means that in relation to our understanding of reality, in the beginning we are led by people to understand what they teach us. We are led to do what we are taught to do, to say what we are taught to speak and to think what we are taught to think. At this stage of life we are still trapped and dependent on people, with no alternative, because as a “burden” we do not yet have content of knowledge to be alone.
However, after a while, we must reach the level of learning necessary to understand how events work, to become “TRAVELERS”, no longer being taken by people. As “travelers,” we have learned to build our own understanding of reality, and this is like walking on our own. Thus, we come to the power to guide other people who know less and depend on us. For them we become their masters. Becoming the “traveler” is becoming master for other people.
But the position of master is not yet the end. We need to go beyond and reach the highest elevation, because as “travelers” we still depend on the path. It is still necessary for us that there is a path where we can walk. Therefore, we must evolve to become the “PATH” itself. It is when we cease to be the guiding teacher of people and become role models for people to follow us. At this point, our world view, guided by the broad and true understanding we construct, opens up for us a space as broad as the universe itself, and so we cease to reside in the restricted environments and delimited by the philosophical or religious ideologies that others have made us follow in the past. When we become the “way,” our thinking becomes universal.
My trajectory has basically been this way. I started by being led to think how people wanted me to think, but then I came to have my own understanding of things and created my own ideas on all subjects. With that I became freer and stronger to no longer be dragged or persuaded by the ideas of the people who tried to indoctrinate me. And at that point I fled from all the religious currents and ideologies that tried to trap me and limit my consciousness. In the end I understood that I should go further, move to the high hone point of the elevation of thought, and become my own path. I do not follow people anymore, but only myself. I have my own way of understanding things, and with that I feel free. My world is the largest space, the universe itself.
Due to my experience, I stopped being religious, but still have my spirituality and my vision of the world supported by the freedom to think. I came to understand that there is an ORDER in the universe, not as a GOD, but as an imperious LAW that determines everything and makes all things to be the only way they can be. I did not become an atheist after that walk, but I stopped following the doctrines that showed me a GOD impossible to follow and understand.
