Nick Szabo is a computer scientist, legal scholar and cryptographer known for his research in digital contracts and digital currency. You may have heard about ‘smart contracts’ — well, he came up with that.

He is (at least) a major indirect contributor to Bitcoin, as he created its precursor (with similar advanced math and cryptography algorithms), called Bit gold. To this day, his opinion on everything within this space is one of the most trusted and respected in the field, so we’re very excited to have him around during Korea Blockchain Week 2019.

His enthusiasm is genuine and contagious and his life story is anything but boring. He’s the founder and CEO of Galaxy Digital, with over 20 years of experience at Fortress and Goldman Sachs.

Gavin ‘Gav’ Wood is a British computer scientist mostly known as co-founder of the world’s second most valuable digital coin behind bitcoin — Ethereum — where he functioned as CTO during the first two years.

His current role is Chairman and CTO of Parity Technologies. He’s also the inventor of the Solidity language, founder and president of the Web3 Foundation, and he started the blockchain interoperability project Polkadot.

British cryptographer and crypto-hacker Dr. Adam Back was one of the first people to work on Bitcoin. He is the inventor of the proof-of-work system Hashcash, and currently he fills the role of CEO at Blockstream.

Back has extensive expertise in cryptography protocols, bitcoin, electronic cash, privacy enhanced technology, distributed file systems, anonymity, distributed publishing systems, p2p systems, and serves as a consultant in all of these areas. We’re glad to have him and his brain present in Seoul!

You might know Brittany Kaiser as the primary subject of the Netflix Original documentary The Great Hack as the former senior director turned whistleblower of Cambridge Analytica. Now she’s a public advocate for data rights and works with lawmakers on the #OwnYourData campaign.

She is also co-founder and partner at the Digital Asset Trade Association, a non-profit formed with the mandate to work closely with policymakers to enact ground-breaking legislation focused on Distributed Ledger Technology. Currently focused on legislative reform for digital assets such as personal data and tokens on the blockchain.

Silvio Micali is the founder of Algorand — the first ‘pure’ PoS blockchain platform. He designed the platform with an internationally recognized team of researchers, mathematicians, cryptographers, and economists, to guarantee true decentralization, scalability and security.

Silvio is a recipient of the Turing Award (in computer science), the Gödel Prize (in theoretical computer science) and the RSA prize (in cryptography). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Kevin Chou is an American video game executive and entrepreneur is best known as co-founder and CEO of video game company Kabam. Chou is also the co-owner of Generation Gaming (GenG., former KSV eSports). Earlier this year, he announced his SF-based blockchain gaming company called Forte, to accelerate the adoption of blockchain technology in the games industry.

Chou has proven to be a visionary before, heading teams that created mobile games played by hundreds of millions of people over the past decade. Kabam was sold for somewhere between $800 million and $900 million.

Simon Kim is CEO and Managing Partner at Hashed — a network builder for decentralized future in the blockchain industry. They look to introduce new players from around the world into the Korean blockchain industry in the hopes of stirring international impact.

Prior to Hashed, Simon co-founded numerous companies. He served as Chief Product Officer at KnowRe, an ed-tech startup that develops digital learning platforms which were named one of World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Education by Fast Company.
