Why Kevin McCarthy is a SPINO
How his desperation paid off, or didn’t
Speaker In Name Only,(SPINO), Kevin McCarthy has made so many concessions in order to become House Speaker that it is very hard to take him seriously at all.
SPINO McCarthy made the mistake to openly ventilate his desperate desire to become House Speaker without thinking this through. The Lunatic Caucus of the Republican Party, with rep. Matt Gaetz as one of the loudest voices, has made it pretty clear that they have Kevin McCarthy in a straight jacket for the next 2 years, if his speakership lasts that long.
McCarthy’s dumbest concession
Perhaps the dumbest concession McCarthy made was to give in to the request for more power to the Lunatic Caucus of the party. McCarthy’s predecessors Paul Ryan and John Boehner choose wisely not to do that because it would drift the GOP away from the independent and more moderate republican voters.
McCarthy is betting on the hope of the GOP to maintain broad enough electoral support to defend their newly won House majority despite giving in to Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jim Jordan and Scott Perry.
All of them have been singled out by the Jan.6 Committee for their parts in Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. We are still waiting for accountability on that.
