Ok, normally I just pass by, but teenage smugness of this article is just too great.
“It’s time to give TypeScript another chance” — it is time to give YOU another chance to catch up to the present, in which TypeScript has been widely used for the last 3 years.
“You may have heard that the Angular team recently switched to TypeScript for Angular 2.” — Dear slowpoke, your ‘recently’ is 2014, the first time Angular team said that they will build Angular 2 with TypeScript — http://sdtimes.com/atscript-googles-new-superset-javascript-runtime/
“If you’ve been in JavaScript/Node.js land for a while, it’s easy to assume that the shot-callers for these projects have lost their minds.” — no, Jason, to anyone who have been doing actual serious stuff in JavaScript/Node.js land for a while, you know, like stuff that has to be maintained and improved by 30 people rather than 3 for 10 years rather than 10 month, the need for something better then JsDoc was obvious, and so were the benefits of TypeScript.
This entire article is an attempt to sweep lack of farsightedness under the rug by share smugness.
