Folks in the dating scene these days are all too familiar with the rise of “ghosting:” someone will suddenly cease communication with a person they’re no longer interested in dating, rather than actually tell them they’re no longer interested, hoping the other party will get the hint and disappear. It is as if they have have died and no longer exist on the same plane as their phone, hence the term “ghosting” (hint: it doesn’t always work).
