If you know someone who loses someone close to them, it can be really damn hard to have a conversation with them about it. Especially if you’ve never experienced a loss like the one they’ve been faced with.
It will never be okay (and that’s just fine)

When my cousin — my Aunt’s daughter — died in her mid-twenties, I didn’t speak to my Aunt for years because I didn’t know what to say :-(

Then I did it again when my Uncle — that Aunt’s husband — underwent a scary surgery…I must be the ONLY person in my family who didn’t call and commiserate…

I was sure I would say something stupid — silly me! :-(
