To meet the real “you”
“Change is necessary”, everyone said. And we welcomed this notion whole heartedly. The illusion of “growth”, “development”, “advancement” and a thousand more fancy words cajoled us so bad that we never even cared to question the change, not until now. What made my mind “change” and question the very principle that brought me here? Life.
Am I untroubled with the things around me, the ideology that’s being followed, the ritual that everyone respect, the festivals everyone celebrate and lots and lots of more things. I had a hard time trying to figure out what it is. Every thought tossing inside the head, and not being able to decide the cluster they belong to. What conveyed me be a part of this change? What persuaded me to do things that I wouldn’t have done otherwise? What hypnotised me to shift from doing things I want to to things I should do? What is it? Passion? Nope. Dedication? Certainly not. Well, it’s the fear, the insecurities, the disastrous thought and the responsibilities that behold us like an anchor. No matter how hard we try to swim out, to do things we love doing, we are only going deep, and deeper with time. Toys always fascinated me. It did today as well. But the things are different. It is no longer the will and enthusiasm to play that excites and instead, it’s that nostalgic feeling of being carefree, simple and yet happy that comes creeping in. It’s really interesting how some things that were insignificant before, now holds a special place inside, in the form of voids.
Voids demanding to be filled soon and yet, we are simply helpless to do that. We are all busy, we don’t have the time to think of anything except work and yet, ironically, no Facebook feed misses a like. I guess it’s high time now. We need to stop for a moment and think, talk to ourself, take your time, and come back as a person who know you. It’s funny, we have thousands of contacts, we are always occupied with work, we think of our life to be the best, we aspire to make it the best and yet, a simple ad on television or a small quote is sometimes enough to give goosebumps and make us realise where we are. Have you seen dogs barking and running before the cars on street? Well, the cars are like different opportunities . Running with all the strength, trying to catch one or the other, and unaware of the destination. Just stop, take 3 deep breaths and meet the real you. I’m sure “you” are a lot more interesting than you think.
