Great article, thank you. I recently got started in web apps at my company, and wanted to use React, but even as a very large company, they had put it off limits because of this horrendous licensing. It’s isn’t in the spirit of the open source community, and FB should instead be the frontrunners in the effort to provide solutions for the justice system so that frivolous patent lawsuits can be dealt with for lower cost. They’re trying to offload the risk they take as a big company onto the React users, which is hardly fair.

I was impressed with Inferno though, and if the community can rally around that or Preact to bring it up to speed with React, we’ll have a real winner, and FB can go back to being the only users of React.
