Ideally we should all have a Fuck Off Fund to give ourselves the power to decide the courses of our lives.
But it’s so easy to forget that there are still women stuck in the first version without the ability to rewrite their stories. There are women in situations with zero capacity to save money (the abuser might take it, hungry children, crippling debt, etc.). If we can walk away from shitty situations with our FOF’s, that’s wonderful a thing: we have given ourselves the power of autonomy. But with that power comes to responsibility to not forget about the women stuck in these nightmare abusive relationships/workplaces.
Save money. But also keep working for a world where the consequences of not doing so won’t be threatening to our emotional/mental/physical well-beings.
