What the Grand Jury Means at this Point
Anthony Pannullo

Either this investigation is legitimate, or it is a magician’s hat.

An indictment in itself means nothing under our rules of law.

Any prosecutor, at any level of our court system, may file charges against any individual if the evidence gathered meets the legal standard of a ‘factual basis’ (sufficient to bring to trial or allow a judge to accept a guilty or no contest plea), or the petition to charge, or bring to trial, an individual can be sufficiently argued and a judge concurs.

The burden of proof always lies with the Prosecution in our Country. In criminal cases the burden to find someone Guilty must meet the standard of ‘Beyond A Reasonable Doubt’.

Since the appointment of tRump as President all government bodies’ and employees' integrity and trustworthiness have become outright suspect in America’s eyes and minds.

No one is to be believed or trusted — no one.

At this stage of the tRump Debacle I could just as easily believe this Grand Jury (and possible indictment(s)) to be nothing more than an effort to find tRump Not Guilty, thereby establishing his hold on power once and for all.

For if he were to be found Not Guilty, it doesn’t mean he is innocent, only that the factual basis and evidence submitted for consideration at trial to be insufficient to find him ‘legally’ Guilty.

Further, if he is found Not Guilty, the pursuit of any subsequent legal actions, of the same (or other) nature would indeed justify his claims of being persecuted by witch hunts, opening the door for retaliatory lawsuits and other legal actions against real or imagined enemies.

If there still be truly any honor left in any of our public servants, we shall see it come to fruition by the strength of the evidence compiled will bring forth indictments strong enough to end any questions as to tRump’s guilt in any matter, and provides sufficient proof to remove him from Office.

In other words, this Grand Jury, and/or any subsequent trial, will either get rid of tRump, OR cement his hold on killing off our democracy once and for all.

Let us hope America still has some sanity left somewhere and this isn’t just another segment of tRump’s reality show, “Trump’s Oval Office”.

“By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.”
