If I might respectfully point out, Americans do not elect their President, the Electoral College appoints them.
The last two out of three presidents appointed were in direct opposition to the citizens' choice.
It is to the Electoral College members we elect, and those which are ‘appointed’, upon which the American public’s attention should be focused.
These are the people who should be getting national face time, and, appropriately, should be held accountable.
Until we repeal and or Amend our Constitution, Presidential elections are an astronomically massive waste of time, energy, resources and money.
They are held only to misdirect those of us trying to engage, and entertain the rest who live in a virtual reality of ignorance and “Idiocracy”.
“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” ― Frank Zappa
“In a way, the worldview of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it.
“They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening.
“By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.” — George Orwell, 1984
