Nothing may have happened to her ‘that time’.
The POINT she is ‘trying to make’ — or at least trying to get through thick skulls and shallow minds like yours — is about the ‘constant state of fear’.
You have the typical Rock Dweller’s level of intellect qualifying your thought patterns based on myopic hindsight.
Have you EVER? tried to eat, let alone enjoy your meal, while in a constant state of anxiety and fear?
It’s hard to swallow your food, and it frequently disagrees with you for hours after.
Physiologically your body is in a perpetual state of agitation; cortisol and adrenaline do not shut off or slow down. This has the effect of dumping acid into your body’s ecosystem.
Try living with that every day of your life.
Try it ONE TIME, I DARE YOU before you make another 'ignore me I’m talking out my ass' comment.
Another point Rock Dwellers, is that this was NOT an isolated incident in a specific location of our Country.
It is pervasive, systemic and endemic to ALL of America.
That’s right, dimwits everywhere.
Everywhere you walk in public, everywhere you travel, everywhere you shop — E V E R Y W H E R E in 21st Century America, ‘The Land of The Free’….
She and every person of color has every right to feel threatened everywhere and anywhere they travel IN AMERICA because hate and ignorance attitudes are so prevalent, and BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE DYING FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THEIR SKIN COLOR.
(Putting this into a little context, the civilian police who are committing these unprovoked uses of deadly force would be court martialed if they committed the same acts for the same reasons (xenophobia) if they were ‘serving’ in the military.)
As a person of color (or involved in a biracial relationship or belonging to a biracial family), you do not know who is an enemy and who is a friend.
America has become, for many, enemy territory. Any vet who has served in combat or in a hostile foreign posting KNOWS what ‘living’ in enemy territory is like.
American civilians, specifically ‘white Americans’, are unequivocally conditioned to ignorance and narrow mindedness and limited perspectives specifically because of the insulation of living on this particular continent.
That and our peculiar sense of self-righteous puritanicalism.
Most Americans have NEVER traveled overseas, let alone out of their small towns, counties or states.
Human beings in positions of power and ‘authority’, like our civilian police forces, feel empowered and encouraged to see just how far they can push the hate agenda — and they do it from behind a weapon, aimed at UNARMED CIVILIANS.
But because these HUMAN BEINGS just happen to have a different color of skin, they are considered acceptable targets, and acceptable losses.
Since tRump has taken Office, hate crimes, fascist outpourings and deaths have spiked horrendously.
(There are so many sources to confirm this that I’m not even going to take the time to cite one here. If you’re too lazy to check it out yourself, you wouldn’t believe my reference anyway.)
So the next time you feel your opinion has ‘merit’, Jay James, maybe you should fact check your belief system first.
And widening your perspectives wouldn’t hurt you to do so, either.

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.” ― Frank Zappa
